Carapex is home to many insects, including ones that molt. almost %60 of dead matter such as tree leaves, mosses, sticks, dirt, and more are actually comprised of degraded molts. Every year or so there is a burning of the ground matter through the winter, having the fire burn underneath the ground in a heated sort of blanket with the dead matter on top of it. By the spring, the ground will be properly aerated with nitrogen and other chemicals found in ash. This cycle is often repeated. It is said if you find an untouched molt before burning season, you'll be lucky for the next one.
