NPC-011 gets stuck in an ice storm and unwittingly ends up at the haunted mansion. 600+ words, sorry i am not good at berevity. thank you!

NPC-011 (Nicknamed ‘Captain’ in this story) did not receive his invitation to the haunted house, but with the bad luck of a sudden storm has found his way there unwittingly. It turns out some events have ways of making you attend, whether you know of them or not
When the winds blew harder against the cabin of his trusty Icebreaker Ferry, and he felt the tell-tale chill in the air, Captain knew the sudden weather would throw him off course. Instead of being able to return from a long day of shuttling Isopups through a coldwater arctic strait on the watery world of Nautil, he would be fighting to steer his ship through the icy storm and into the first safe harbor he could find.
Rain and freezing wind dashed against the windows of the cabin and control room of the ship, the temperature turning the weather to icy sleet and coating his area of view. Through the obscured window, he finally spied a beacon, the rotating amber light of a lighthouse warning of land ahead. Soon he could spy the blurry outlines of a darkened dock, stairs winding up a craggy beach cliff face, and up at the top a mansion that must have been grand some time ago, but now was worn and weather beaten and looking quite fearsome. Steering his ship to the abandoned dock, he was glad to notice the weather became less a freezing gale and more a sudden fall downpour with the proximity to land.
Captain made quick and methodical work of docking and securing his Icebreaker Ferry, having done it hundreds of times before, and in worse weather than this. Still, he was soaked to the bone, and quite chilled despite being of an Ice affinity himself. He gathered what things he might need into his trusty knapsack, and then began the long and winding climb up the jackknifing switchbacks that were the narrow stairs up the cliff. Carefully he climbed, and despite the age the wood seemed sturdy and the railing held firm.
Finally he reached the top of the long staircase, and was able to have a closer look at the manor estate he had found as his first safe harbor in this storm. It had to have been lavish once, with peaks and spires and wrought-iron everything, but now the topiary bushes were overgrown and the buildings facade was cracking and peeling - beat and battered by years of sea sun and temperamental coastal weather. Still, it looked solid and he couldnt see any holes in the roof or cracks in the windows, so Captain made his way down the cobbled pathway and up to the imposing double entrance doors, with a large brass knocker in the center of each.
He went to use one door knocker to announce he was there, out of politeness even though he expected the house to be abandoned. As his hand reached out, the door swung inward with a drawn out creak that echoed in the silence of the large entry room that followed. Strange, but with all the wind it could be explained. Stranger still were the candles dotted around the room, giving off a faint green glow the likes of which he had never seen before. The entry room led to a grand staircase going up into green-tinged candle lit hallways, and he called out a few times to announce his presence to whoever might have lit the candles, explaining of his presence and the storm. Noone replied to his calls, but another door down the hall once again swung open with a creak and a spilled pool of green light, this time without any wind to explain it away. Feeling unsettled, he nevertheless continued onwards, entering the room.
It was a long banquet hall, dusted with cobwebs in places and the chandeliers blazed with that sickly greenish light. A large fireplace danced in front of a tall wingback chair at the room's end, and the flickering flames cast shadows of some sort of figure, sitting within. Captain gathered his courage, and then announced himself “Pardon me for coming in, but ive just docked my ship to flee a large ice storm, if you would be so kind as to let me stay here with you until it passes I would -”. He was cut off with another creak as a large, translucent figure raised itself from the chair. “Why of course the storm brought you here…it is Halloween Night after all. Many beings find themselves wandering these halls come this night.” Captain saw a large pointed shadowy grin, and bright slanted glowing eyes, just before the fire and all the candles but the one directly in front of him at the end of the table went out. “Enjoy my humble Halloween Mansion, traveler of the seas” could be heard, whispered through the dark.
