Written Prompt:
In the land of Scorvia, there is a traveling festival blooming full of produce and freshly cooked meals. The fire isopups excitedly rushed over to enjoy the goods that were difficult to grow in their naturally poor, scorching land. Meanwhile, there were some tourists that were visiting Scorvia for other businesses as well as for the event’s produce shop and cooked goods. One wandering tourist–Aloysius–saw a couple of stands full of cooked dishes. She was enamoured by the smell of spices and other aromatics and leaned in closer on one of the stands. From hearty marine stew to the rare spider rocks, she can only offer some of her own items she has collected from her past foragies to some of the passing stand-runners–and some of the foods she was offered some. In one stand, she saw a notable face…it was Esther, who was helping out her old trainer setting up their recipe tent.
“Hey! Are you that one mercenary that most of the town’s folk were talking about?” Aloysius asked out of curiosity.
“Ah, certainly.” She replied.
“What are you doing right here?”
“Old man and I just wanted to take a break from bounty hunting and join in the festival.” Esther answers while Narin is behind her, setting up the boxes of what seems to be books. He only stares at her in a tired manner before continuing to work.
“Oh, mind if I chime in for a bit?” Aloysius requested while looking at thestand’s sign.
“Sure thing, just help me out by moving the sign.” Esther holds one half of the sign on top of the stand’s roof.
Both Aloysius and Esther finished setting their stand up. Aloysius was about to head off before Esther poked her back. “Thanks for the help, I think you might need something in return.” Esther gives Aloysius a recipe book for different dishes. She gives off a wide smile before running off to the next stand. She opens the book before looking at a recipe that peaks her interest. A sea-based dish with some spices sounded good to her, and she stumbled upon a run-down stand. The ruined-looking stand sells nothing but raw ingredients and the recipe book that Aloysius has calls out for these ingredients. She walks up to the stand and sees Finn and Geno slacking before paying attention.
“Are you here to buy something or ogle at some toad fruit?” Finn questions her standing next to the shop. He is not a huge fan of isopups loitering next to his business.
“I’m just here to buy some soaring fish, blazing sharlots, and wilting shrooms. I wanna try out cooking in my life.” She lists off the ingredients needed for her recipe.
“Uh huh, sure.”
“Y’know gramps, maybe you should learn how to make food that’s actually edible instead of eating it raw.” Geno teased as he was placing the guzzers on a bowl with a smug look.
“Shut your trap, kid. We need to preserve our resources,” Finn talks back in an annoyed tone before answering Aloysius.
“That will be 200 runes.” Finn sets up the total price.
Aloysius would grab her bag behind her and find anything that is worth that much runes; unfortunately, the bag is empty. She did not have the money nor any item worth of value—all wasted on the food she ate. She only stares in a blank state, disappointed by the fact she spent all of her forages for cooked items rather than taking a chance to learn something beneficial for her adventures.
